Analyze how the Depression affected Hitler's rise to power.
Describe the loss of German civil liberties under Hitler.
Describe Hitler's plans for the world as revealed in Mein Kamph.
Describe the pitfalls of using appeasement to avoid war.
Examine the effectiveness of the German blitzkrieg.
Explain the strengths of the lend-lease program.
Create a work of art which conveys the horrors of the Holocaust.
Create a newscast which reports the events of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Describe the physical and emotional difficulties experienced by the internees during World War II.
Explain the affect of the war on the job opportunities for Hispanics, women, and Afro-Americans in America.
Define some of the causes of discrimination.
Analyze the geographic conditions which affected the D-Day landing.
Recount heroic actions of Hispanic servicemen during World War II.

Compare and contrast integrated schools in 1957 and those of today.
Define "boycott" and explain its significance to Cesar Chavez and the farm workers' movement.

Unit 8

Describe the social and political priorities of President John Kennedy.
Identify the personal qualities that made Kennedy an effective leader.

Analyze the role geography played in the Cuban missile crisis.
Interpret a political situation from two opposing points of view.
